Our Services

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that is characterised by hyperactivity, impulsivity, restlessness and inattentiveness. If unsupported, it can lead to educational, social and psychological difficulties.

The condition is more prevalent in children and teenagers, but it can also affect adults. However adults may have differing symptoms to children – instead of hyperactivity, they may experience bouts of restlessness.

ADHD symptoms are typically noticed at an early age. This is especially true with ADHD in children when a child’s circumstances change, such as starting a new school. Children who have the disorder tend to get diagnosed between the ages of six and 12.

Anger Management

My approach to anger management is non-judgmental. I do not impose the issue of self-control on my clients, because anger is not a primary emotion. My goal, in collaboration with my client, is to uncover emotionally wounding messages from childhood. These are the messages that form the basis of patterns of anger in the present.

I am able to expose root causes and triggers through the use of the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS). My clients are supported as they discover inner resources with which to overcome past pain and to manage future stressors in healthy ways.

Child Counselor

I work with young children identified as having learning difficulties, (ADD), (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder, or antisocial personality disorder. Each child is unique, and presents different needs.

My initial focus is on finding the underlying issues contributing to their difficulties. Once these have been identified, I create a plan for resolving the issues of concern. Success is achieved when a child, with appropriate training, is able to adopt strategies for functioning more independently, maintaining more sustained focus and regulating their emotions. As counter-productive patterns are replaced over time, a child will develop new norms in behaviour and outlook.

Couples Counselor

The majority of couples seeking the intervention of a therapist for their relationship are motivated by emotional pain and frustration. They describe themselves as feeling disconnected from each other, or being on the defensive.

They may no longer feel safe, and may be looking to therapy as a means of assessing where they stand with each other. My role in couples’ therapy is to help the two individuals to understand, resolve and move past the issues on which they have become stuck, and establish a positive atmosphere for healthy, ongoing dialogue.

Marriage Counselling

As a relationship counsellor my primary goal is to help the couple to re-connect with each other as quickly as possible. I then take them through a process of restoring healthy dialogue, strengthening the bonds between them and developing a plan for moving forward.

Christian Counselling

With my background of 30 years of Christian counselling to those who seek it, I draw on wisdom and truth from the scriptures to create contemporary perspectives on my client’s present circumstances. God-honouring principles do create positive change for individuals willing to apply them.

I have developed an approach I call “Pneumatherapy”, (the therapy of the Holy Spirit), which helps the client to attentively and prayerfully listen to the Holy Spirit for insight and direction. We have many testimonials of successful outcomes of this therapy.

Career / Jobs Counsellor

I provide individual and group counselling to people of all ages. By building rapport, trust and mutual respect, a learning environment is created within which frank discussions between the clients and I can take place. We assess their past experiences and qualifications.

With further analysis of their inner motivations, natural talents, skills and potential, they are able to establish clear, specific goals for themselves. Their dreams finally become achievable as they map out the concrete steps they will be taking to move from present circumstances into the careers of their choice.

Grief & Loss

My empathetic approach enables me to form a connection with the client seeking recovery from grief. Through patient listening, I am able to create a safe place in therapy for the client, where they can share, question the value of their experiences, or seek reassurance about the future.

As we continue in dialogue, the client processes the traumatic memories and builds the capacity to move forward within their new reality.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders resulting from societal, as well as inner pressures to control one’s physical appearance or weight have become prevalent among children, teenagers and adults. Within a short time, the victims begin to experience negative physical, medical and social impacts of their condition.

Since family has an important role to play in the reduction of this disorder, my approach is to investigate the developmental, social and behavioral factors, as well as the family dynamics influencing the client. A deeper understanding of the root causes of their difficulties makes it possible to help the client to resolve emotional issues and shift into a healthier relationship with food.

My primary approach to the treatment of depression is to explore, in order to find the core issues or stressful events causing the present symptoms.

Once the main contributory factors have been identified, I support my clients through a process of honestly and openly expressing their feelings and thoughts patterns. I am able to teach them effective coping skills in order to be able to function in the present, and possibly, resolve the symptoms of depression with time.
